I spoke to a marshal when I did it and there are a lot of club/fast runners that take it very seriously and not like a parkrun. I didn't hear any encouragement to slower runners / walkers or thanks to marshals either. There were slower runners that looked at me like I'd grown another head when I gave a 'well done' comment, obviously not used to hearing it.

You're right. I steadily jogged back in opposite direction at the end saying 'well done' etc and very few people even acknowledged me. Exmouth is similiar. It's more like a road race with very decent club runners. I was 10th MV55

It's not the parkrun ethos imho.

31st/287 for me today in 22.43. 26th male and 3rd in age group.

60 plus hilly walking miles in my legs though for this Fenland fella and I felt them too.

Well done, Fenland Flier. I'd love to get under 23 minutes in my local parkrun.

When I entered my fastest 5k benchmark in October in the virtual 5k challenge, I noticed that 22:39 was my fastest 5k since the monthly virtual 5k started and therefore, fetch counts it as a SB! The final 5k of that half, I was chasing a PB so it was the fastest part of the race for me.

After Athens Marathon on Sunday, I'll be back doing some 5k and 10k training until a local 10k on the final weekend of January. We don't seem to have a lot of road 5ks around here; the parkrun course is very muddy in winter so I don't see a fast time coming anytime soon, except if I do 5000 m on the track which I might do in the off-season (no races from 12 November until January).

I'm stuck at 26 mins + at Keighley Cliffe Castle but have started a bit of club training again the last couple of weeks. There'll be opportunity for me to do quicker Parkruns before Xmas so I'm hoping for a positive end to the year

I may see you there DT, however I don't have a Fetch shirt with me this weekend and I don't know how I'll feel in the morning.
