Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Wolfwoman Hot day, felt the sun burning on skin. Didn't like course, quite boring, seemed never ending. Got muddled up with mile markers, so it all went to pot after that. Walked a bit (which i hate to do). I so wanted to get under 2hrs.

Vindicator UNOFFICIAL TIME: Currently in the middle of a lot of short fast 5M/10K's (will be 4 races in 2 weeks come Wednesday) so decided to run this one at 95% ( long tempo run). Set off at ~7 min mile which was easy to start but the temperature was warm. On the sea front there was a cooling (but slowing) headwind, but the way back was in to the sun and very hot. At the end of the first loop I had a bad patch, but recovered on at the end of the second loop. Leaving the seafront, miles 11 & 12 were hard as my lack of longer runs started to kick in. I wanted to go for it in the last mile, but it was very hot and airless with a gradual climb. Finished 3 mins down on PB time - realistically it was always going to be hard in the conditions anyway. On a cooler day with no wind this course has PB potential as it is essentially flat.

brotherjohn 5 races in 11 days and it felt like it today, bit of a grind to get around today. Struggled with the wind along the very long seafront part which we did twice and could not make it up coming back the other way. PB but was hoping for quite a bit faster. Nice event though, maybe 2,500 runners and well organized. Didn't hang around after, but somewhat surpriseingly I was first V50!

Vicksta Really enjoyed it today, although the weather was a bit too toasty, 28 degrees! I don't think I have ever run a flatter half marathon. The new course was better than last years one. Didn't get the time I was wanting, but the headwind along the front, and the heat in general was a bit much to deal with. I would love to run this course on a cool day and when I am in good form, its a PB course for sure. Went for fish and chips on the beach in Southend afterwards. 34th Female...exactly the same as last year!

Cheg My first race of any description. It was a steaming hot day, and I had only given myself 6weeks to prepare with my longest training run being 5miles. I decided to enter the race after missing the entry into the London Marathon ballot.

I went off too fast and so had to walk for big parts of the race. But was pleased just to finish and get my first medal, hopefully of many.

Will learn from the numerous mistakes I made throughout my preparation and the race. Have already booked my next two races, a 10km in London and the Bristol Half Marathon. Can't wait!
