Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Flatlander Have peppered the 2h52/53m mark every year. Have done the training this year, but an awful 7 days at work immediately before the race (60 hours plus being woken up 2 nights to go to work as well as working days) meant that I was extremely tired so any thoughts of sub 3 hours had gone out of mind. Stupidly went club training Thursday night for 6x1km but went unexpectedly fast. Hmm....

At Rhayader, started usual steady speed, didn't steam up THE hill quite as fast as usual, took it steady down the other side, and got to the halfway mark in 90 minutes. Hang on, that's how long it usually takes me to get there when I've run 2:53, and I'm still feeling good. Still held myself in check for the next 5 miles, but at mile 15 - whoosh! Suddenly shot off with 40m 21s last 5 miles, over the hill at mile 18.5 and up into Rhayader for a course PB. Not bad for a Flatlander!

Sorry to the other runners who came up to me at the finish and said I'd demoralised them as I whizzed past them as if they were standing still! (their words!).

They say that the best things come when you least expect them! I thought one was supposed to get slower not faster as one gets older, but that's an improvement in each of the last 3 years!

♪♫ Synge ♪♫ This is emphatically not a PB course. It sounds pretty hilly.

Given that I am aiming to go fast on 7 March and on 28 March, both over 20 miles, this is intended to be a nice slow scenic run. Let's see ...
