@SPR, for me that information just reinforces the absolute gulf between male and female 5000m performance!

15:19 was a winning *Olympic* time for women, yet in just one calendar year 406 men (in the UK alone, if I'm right that PO10 only records British athlete data?) exceeded it. If that's just UK data then globally the figure will be tens of thousands of men beating that time. Every year!

I believe Hubbard was competitive but mediocre essentially as a male athlete. I have not looked up actual numbers but that is the gist.

Paul the Builder - in the interests of not making people feel sick (it's tea time after all.....) two areas "developed" - one I am not mentioning and the other was my feet, that grew 2 sizes.

As far as I am aware, no actual height but if I put my mind to it I can build muscle quite well. Am just not a fan of weights.

The wiki for Laurel (treat with usual Wikipedia caution) suggests she was a talented junior lifter, setting New Zealand junior records in 1998 in the newly established M105+ division with snatch 135 kg, clean & jerk 170 kg, total 300 kg. Don't know what her weight was at the time.

She then stopped lifting for some time. She transitioned in her 30s. At the 2017 Australian International & Australian Open in Melbourne, she competed at the heaviest 90 kg+ category, winning the gold medal with a 123 kg snatch and 145 kg clean & jerk, for a total of 268 kg at a bodyweight of 131.83 kg.

So, her performance is diminishing, but it would be difficult to unpick the effect of hormones from the general process of ageing which would also be at play given she is 43. The blog i posted earlier shows that weightlifting is a sport that usually favours youth and there were no medallists in the last four Olympic Games aged 40+ (and very few in their 30s).

Because you've not read it, or because you have, Vixx?

If you've not read it, I would heartily recommend, it's a fairly stand alone Discworld book.
