That wouldn’t be an issue for me. And if there was a prize on offer you would deserve it ahead of me.

In the current climate it might be an elbow bump rather than a handshake though.

I think it's worth pointing out again that the IOC rules have been in place for over 20 years at this point, and there have been what, two olympians so far that have even been in contention for medals.?It's not a tsunami.

Sure, when places in Olympic squads are limited one can argue that a trans person is 'taking' a place a cis woman might otherwise have had, but the playing field is also unlevel in so, so, many other ways - those from more wealthy families will almost certainly have benefited from better lifelong nutrition and coaching for example. The idea of complete fairness is a fantasy.

Some may feel that allowing a trans person, who has experienced barriers and opposition that most cis people are fortunate to have had no need to imagine, to compete as they identify is a step too far.

I feel that line of reasoning is little better than claiming that allowing people of colour to compete was a step too far because they had certain physiological advantages over white people that would be the death of Caucasian athletics.

I once had a guy totally blank and pointedly ignore me after beating him in a finish line sprint :)

Handshaking is sooooo 2019.

A curt nod of approval from at least six feet away should cover most scenarios.

[There used to be a particularly unpleasant term for this ^ - which I see no point in rehearsing here.]

Vixx - there's no way in which that should worry any male runner. Male is not a protected category; there's no advantage (athletically) to being any form of not-natal-male. I'll shake your hand gladly.

To build on something aubernette and Roo wrote a page or so back - I don't see how it can be 'inconclusive' that transwomen retain an advantage after transition, simply because current T-level is not the only thing that is relevant here. The *historical* T-level has had an effect, and some aspects are permanent. To take the simplest example: Vixx - I'm guessing you haven't grown taller since your FTM journey? And in the same way, a MTF athlete doesn't lose height, or wingspan. There are of course other permanent physical attributes like this.

Raemondos post caused me confusion until I realised swittle was referring to the post before.

"I feel that line of reasoning is little better than claiming that allowing people of colour to compete was a step too far because they had certain physiological advantages over white people that would be the death of Caucasian athletics."

The line of reasoning is suggest sport should segregated on race.

Sport is already segregated on sex because of the advantages of one sex.
