Shondo usually is there but it's my non belief in myself at the moment. We used to run together all the time but I now can't keep up with her so I beg her to run at own pace. :-(

Lip Gloss it sounds like your return is coming along nicely however you feel in yourself. I hope your lungs are behaving now and the cough you suffered for a long time has done one.
You've got this, you have been there before and will get there again but it is a journey. Good luck.

Thanks FF, cough is still there. Breathing better but can’t wait to retire in November.

I took my benchmark from my 5k this morning …
. When I suggested extracting the fastest mile from a training session a few posts ago as being entirely acceptable, this is what I had in mind. I had forgotten that's how Fenland Flier actually set it up, in the instructions for the January virtual mile. I would do the same for a tempo session today, except that it was slower than a 10 km race earlier in the month 🙂

Had another go this evening but was 3 seconds slower than a fortnight ago, so will stick with the 7:54 from then.
I felt sluggish all the way round tonight, so I'm taking only three seconds slower as a win!

I did indeed do that NordRunner. I have however for the last couple of months stopped my watch and reset it and just ran a mile.
However you the individual wants to record your mile that's ok here.

I had fallen off the Virtual mile wagon for a couple of months but am clambering back on just in time to sneak in a July within the next couple of days. Nothing too grand expected other than a little bit of effort.

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
