I second what GM said - I learnt that from a PT. I can't squat very low at all, my mobility's not good enough.

I think I've mentioned on here, my range of motion for squats is restricted because of my right hip. Mr Ness says to do what I can cos it's better than not doing them at all.

A gradual introduction is probably better, Pix.

true Ness

I can do squats OK (I think! PT never said anything)
but lunges I just wobble all over the place
I also notice that my knees feel "tight"

plus I know that losing weight will really help - but then strength work will help with losing weight!

The weight is my number 1 priority once I retire

Good idea to restrict motion first whilst getting the hang of the position, thanks.

After three days off (I finished the Iron series on Tuesday and don't plan to start again 'til middle of next week.) I decided to revisit Day 12 - a chest and triceps workout - I last did a month ago.

Am actually quite impressed with the improvement. Am blogging details. FINALLY getting the hang of working triceps effectively. Small example is the triceps press. Last time think I did it wrong and was only 3 - 4 -3. Today first set was 2 x 4kgs, then second minute with 2 x5ks and the third minute I grabbed a pair of 6kgs for the last two or three reps.

Rah!!! Bingo Wings your days are numbered.

Hmm. Was going to leave a day between - yesterday - and then do Day 10 back and biceps again as part of my Improve Arms Quest. However my right arm is still sore after Saturday. Must be that ol' delayed thing as it's arguably worse today.

Have hour and a half ballet tonight which involved holding your arms up and out to the sides (supported by lats) so is quite tiring. Could do some boring abs this morning instead. Need to think quick as I am off to London at dinnertime.

Anyone got workouts planned this week?

Unfortunately I won't get to the gym again for three weeks or so, so no access to a range of dumbbells. I will do at least four of her kettlebell workouts when I'm back in London - I can't remember what weights I have (a friend borrowed one) - probably 6kg, 12kg, and 24kg. Maybe 16kg too.

had planned Wednesday but think I need to visit mum instead

do we recommend the weight that we can keep going for the full 1min only tiring on the last reps and rounds
or is it better to use a heavier weight and do fewer reps per round as pausing a lot more?

I'm using a weight which challenges me but which I can use for the full minute. Nervous about bad form and injury if I'm using something too heavy.

About This Thread

Maintained by Sharkie
Caroline Girvan - tiny but tough, sweet but strong.

Here's a thread rather in the manner of the Shred craze that swept Fetchland some years ago, or perhaps more recently (and less bossily) Adriene's 30 Days of Yoga each year. I found Caroline Girvan via geordiegirl (ta, GG!) and am well impressed with her workouts. I'm currently on Day 27 of her 30 day Iron Series and have STUCK TO IT. Wonders will never cease, I was beginning to despair of the likelihood of me getting any sort...
