Congratulations Sharkie! I started IRON last week and got to 5, then picked up a nasty cold so have parked everything temporarily. But I really like it. I'm using much lighter weights than CG, and they're generally getting me to reasonable fatigue. Normally I hate resistance training, but I quite like how it keeps moving, and I'm enjoying the music. I definitely felt it was doing something, so am looking forward to picking it up again, hopefully in the next couple of days. |

AmaZing Sharkie huge well done and good luck on round 2. I was glad to get to CG day but didnt last long - day 28 glutes - ForMyLife my butt aches now. I used 14kg for hip thrusts and 7kg for Bulgarian lunges had I not been on a too tight schedule for work or in the same room as my weights I would have dropped the 7kg to 5kg for better stability particularly in my left leg - right leg is fine (I put it down to all the work I did post broken foot to regain strength) Grateful that Kazy must have noticed she'd put 2 strengths in today and the other has been changed for yoga. I am hoping Kazy keeps me on Iron for a 2nd round, maybe with 2 sessions a week but I will see what happens in a couple of weeks. |

Still haven't done day 4! Life keeps getting in the way, but I should get it done tomorrow morning. I like the fact that we can see her having to take a break sometimes - makes her more human! And I can totally see me repeating it when / if I make it to the end, there's plenty of variety. |

I agree Sally. It's all very professionally put together but the workouts don't 'feel' edited, they DO feel real time. I've seen some of the moves - like the Arnold Press for instance, which was new to me - criticised elsewhere. It was suggested that they merely added variety and a straightforward shoulder press did the job more efficiently. I actually quite liked the Arnold Press as my shoulders 'are' very mobile - so I have no problem with the movement and I thought adding strength to the mix was a good idea. So investigate further and found variations on the following: 'The Arnold Press benefits those seeking a combination of shoulder strength, muscle size, and mobility. It's an excellent exercise for bodybuilders and individuals looking to add variety to their shoulder workouts. To up the ante for muscle activation, do Arnold Presses standing. Research shows that standing dumbbell presses increase muscle activation more than seated2. The idea is the extra instability caused by standing activates the deltoids more, leading to better muscle growth. If your goal is primarily strength, your best bet is an overhead barbell press, push press, or a dumbbell press from a seated position. All three movements allow you to lift a significant amount of weight.' |

I love the arnold press, the previous workouts I did Julia often put them in. And also agree that I like its not edited or scripted its her exercising in real time and showing that you do you - you may fatigue with much less weights but that's what its about its not about being able to do all the repeats, Julia always said chose a weight that challenges the last few reps. Great info on the exercises Sharkie, thanks for sharing |

I've done day 6 - quads, Sharkie I couldn't do the close stance Bulgarian lunges (my back foot is having to rest on quite a high bed until we get moved) so did some additional normal lunges instead. The elevated heel squats got hard - I used a pair of 10kg dumbbells for that and I was glad to finish those. After my shower, my legs were already a bit wobbly coming downstairs. |

Incidentally I was REALLY, physically and mentally, tired last night at my dance class. After feeling very positive about finishing the course in some style I should have remembered doing it on top of my classes would lead to some tiredness. Tuesday was the last day and I had a very energetic hour and a half dance class at 8.15 that night. THAT was fine - VG in fact, but oh dear I was a bit despairing at ballet last night... WOBBLE WOBBLE! Balance was shot. I'm pretty sure it's affected by tiredness. |

Tired muscles for sure! Just done day 4 - full body. Quite liked that one until I got to the finisher, which finished me. I was, as ever, conservative on the weights with 6kg for everything except the push presses, which were 4kg - my shoulders don't like lifting things. Looking forward to arms and core - hopefully tomorrow morning. |
