After chatting on the over 60's thread I have today purchased some dumbbells and am going to try the Iron series. Having never done weights this will be interesting and not too painful, I hope. Will report back later.

Good luck Solo hope you enjoy it.

Despite trashing my triceps yesterday from a Chest & Triceps session I don't have DOMS today. That might be as I have been doing 2 upper body sessions a week in the gym.

Planning another CG upper body session tomorrow, not sure which one yet.

Hi Solo hope it goes well. Several Fetchies found the first day of the Iron Series the 'worst' in DOMS effect. I would guess you have pretty strong legs and may not find it so.

There ARE a lot of reps of the exercises even if you very much take it at your own speed. Sometimes that 3-2-1 STOP beep takes a log time to arrive

Yes, housework done Sharkie.

I'm hesitant to try the Iron series right now as my back is still not 100%. So easing myself in with sessions that don't look to brutal 😉

GimmeMedals you'll be doing plenty of lifting and carrying with a house move. Hope it all goes well.

Happy house moving GimmeMedals It can be a stressful time so look after yourself.

Thanks Shades and Sharkie I really enjoyed it. I ran for three miles first for a warm up but I found it very easy so am guessing I need to up the weights quite a bit? Each dumbbell was 3.5 kgs. I really have no idea what I am doing with weights obviously 😂 I will see what tomorrow brings and then do the next one on Thursday. I have a 10k race Sunday so won't do another till after that.

The weather is atrocious today here so as I have little after effects today I am going to do day two. I would say my upper body is much weaker than my lower so what kind of weight would be a good starting point?

About This Thread

Maintained by Sharkie
Caroline Girvan - tiny but tough, sweet but strong.

Here's a thread rather in the manner of the Shred craze that swept Fetchland some years ago, or perhaps more recently (and less bossily) Adriene's 30 Days of Yoga each year. I found Caroline Girvan via geordiegirl (ta, GG!) and am well impressed with her workouts. I'm currently on Day 27 of her 30 day Iron Series and have STUCK TO IT. Wonders will never cease, I was beginning to despair of the likelihood of me getting any sort...
