Well done teens :-)

We had a similar scramble for SweetPea's 2nd year accommodation, she finally signed a contract on 15 August last year, with the semester starting at beginning of September. If she got a full loan it would just cover the rent but nothing else.

Expecting a similar bunfight to find something for Marigold, but it'll be much earlier - they usually have everything sorted by end October. She only goes at the end of September so it's the double stress if finding potential housemates AND a house. Ah the joys

Yeah i think it’s rubbish how they have to organise a house for next year before Christmas. I remember we did ours about April. It’s the landlords who drive this by advertising early.

It also affects general rental market in university towns. My daughter struggled to find somewhere to rent with a friend from January as all the rentals were July-July (Leeds), then the landlord pushed them to make an early decision on renewing so he could market it again.

Good luck with back to school for all our teens :-)

D2 very excited for 6th form :-)

With all the school she missed last year D1 is repeating Year 12. She’s very happy with that idea, we just have to make sure it doesn’t all fall apart again. She’s going in for the orientation day today but will have a reduced timetable to start with. Her weight is still very low but she’s hopefully turned the corner and we think that having the incentive to get back to school full time will help.

Will be strange having both in the same year. They won’t be in the same form but may well be in the same class for Sociology.

That's good news PH and small positive steps are always important. For our daughter the thought of not being able to go to uni and live independently was a big incentive for her to seek help for her eating disorder.

Best wishes for a good school year PH - my sister had to repeat that year because she was seriously ill or convalescing for so much of it (bacterial meningitis).

Just loaded the car up and we're off to Manchester to drop the youngest off for an exciting adventure. We're staying tonight but I envisage a tough day tomorrow, for me!
