Yes and maybe you can quietly have some things researched or half organized in the background

D's university college in London doesn't have it's own accommodation so she had to source her own with one of the independent student accommodation providers (Unite). She covered that from her loan and worked to cover living expenses. It's been good for her but she's moving into private accommodation with three friends or her final year because she's fed up of living in box with no floor space. They got the keys yesterday.

L did well in her GCSEs, achieving as well or better than expected in all subjects.

He did it as an extra enrichment club in his own time so only one lesson a week too.

Great result LF

As expected daughter failed her maths and grandson passed his exams but grades were not as high as expected which is hardly surprising considering all that was going on at the time

Well done teens on great sets of GCSEs.

Forgot to document our awful experience on finding second year accommodation, which thankfully looks like it's come to a happy ending.

So twins both needed somewhere non-halls, L found some mates in Keele, they found somewhere and were sorted by Xmas, pretty incredible, but well done him. He warned his brother J not to hang around. They're both avid table-top gamers and L had used his society in Keele to make the contacts, said to J do the same. J didn't. Too shy. J applied for halls knowing it was highly unlikely to get in. Also he went on forums, but no-one ever got back to him and he didn't push. Went on student portal, people there would string him along and go quiet when he mentioned viewings. Waited for halls. Didn't get in. He was getting more stressed. Finally got a viewing via an estate agent. They had a half hour window. He goes down. Estate agent rocks up in Tesla. Two other - working - applicants turn up to view as well. Two weeks later, while we're on holiday, unsurprisingly, one of the others has got it. Prompt near meltdown. K goes on Facebook forums and finds another couple of people, one room in house with fellow students from same course, but this goes before we can get back from holiday to view. Second one was mother of a working son, with another worker - looking for someone quiet, someone doesn't bring back friends, doesn't party (that is J). Bit worried, but went to meet them, they seem really nice, really quiet, they have a house cat, J adores cats. Price is v cheap for Falmouth, so deal is done and agreed. He moves in Sept 7th, all going well.

But yeah keep on trying is all I can say...

Hope it works out well for him, Chris.

D had a similar experience finding her place. They were supposed to takeover a house where one of the four was already living but another girl completed her credit application incorrectly so they were rejected and the landlord took the opportunity to offer it elsewhere at an increased rent. Another place the landlord took a holding deposit and then gave the property to someone else, other places the letting agents didn't show up for viewings. The landlord of the new house seems reasonable and easy to deal with so far.

FAbulous GCSE results, especially Cedd. Amazing. Sorry about your daughter, MM, but understandable. Hope she can resit at the earliest opportunity.

My nephew was the same, sally. They got there in the end. He was similarly coming from abroad. I would also find it stressful.

German university is genius because they are very cheap and very good. Dutch universities are good, too.

Finding accommodation is so stressful. Glad it worked out in the end for D and both twins. LittleD's loan doesn't cover accommodation even for 40 weeks. We are about to buy a house so don't really know what money we have available whilst we are making offers and my contract finishes in October and I have nothing lined up. #anxious
