My oldest didn't get the grades for 1st or 2nd choice, but did get into 2nd choice with what she had. She felt like it was a failure at first, but she will now say that once she was at uni the grades didn't matter at all and she really enjoyed where she was and the course she did, so it all worked out in the end. I don't think she'd choose to change uni if she had her time again. |

It is a stressful time but good to hear things are working out Looking back a few years My eldest didnt get the expected grades but got first choice anyway which we couldn’t understand. Our youngest exceeded grades and didnt get her first choice, but theer were unique scottish issues at play wher english and overseas students get priority as they pay. As it turned out second choice was a better option anyway |

I remember when I got mine I was told them by the admissions tutor at the place I'd applied to as he was offering me a place on slightly different course to that which I'd applied. The postman delivered my results while I was talking to him. My son got his online. |

I think I was down at my 6th form college picking up my results when a letter arrived with a post-mark which was from the city I ended up at Uni at. But with no mobile phones etc my parents anxiously waited at home not opening the letter nor knowing what I'd got until probably about 10am when I could be bothered finding a payphone to call them (I may have actually not even bothered with that and just got the bus home as my results should have, and did, guarantee the place that I'd be offered). Quite glad UCAS doesn't open until 8am on results day; they could I'm sure open up at 12:01am, but at least with an 8am start it's reasonable to get cracking with the Clearing phone calls straight away. Imagine if they did a 12:01am release! Mind you, I can't imagine what it was all like going through Clearing before internet days. Would have been very ponderous, and expensive on the phone calls!! |

I remember getting mine directly at the school, I got what I wanted (most of my friends didn't so it was bittersweet), got into my first choice uni and course, but then knew the course was wrong for me within weeks - I wanted to change, but had no option to change as the uni only did a small range of science, business and computing courses and I got stuck in computing ever since. On the plus side, the first choice uni being in London, London itself was amazing, I loved it, and everything else I did outside my course, doing a fanzine, editing the uni mag, starting a band, seeing loads of gigs, loads of art galleries was great and more than made up for it. |

Quite unlike them to be fair. Last year they split the 6 classes across 9:00, 9:30 and 10:00. I think we’ll hedge and go for about 9:15 (mainly because it’s that or 9:45 with the train times).
