It sounds like LittleD has had lots of experience of not being listened to at school. Hopefully as she realises that people do listen and she can get things moved on as a result, that will help.

Thanks both. That's really helpful Mabel, thank you. It did occur to me that it might be specifically school that's problematic. I had thought that the last few months were quite positive for her, but perhaps that's outweighed by all the awful experiences. I will try giving her specific things to say. I hope that starting at university is a blossoming experience for her.

Daughter always needs a plan of what to do or say. Sometimes she needs help with formulating this, but doesn't ask for it - it's up to me to pick up on stuff. And I am not always very good at that.

She's now in Manchester, I'm back in London. It was an exhausting time. Her room is tiny but I've at least left her with a cosy welcoming bed, a clear desk and with all her clothes put away somewhere.

The main stress right now (or when I left) is that there seemed to be no hot water to the bathroom she's sharing with four others - and she was desperate for a shower.

No word since so I hope it's sorted and she's settling in properly!

Had second journey in a week down to Bristol this time with DaughterDragon’s belongings as she has now moved into her real accommodation. All went well but I think I’ve processed that she’s a long way away now and it isn’t just for a holiday. Am feeling a bit flat (and tired) today

Flat and tired sums me up today! Doesn't help that I'm away from husband and cats.

I do have husband and cat 😊

DragonSon going back to university going into 2nd year tomorrow. Feel better about it than when he went last year but I’m sure I’ll feel more bereft by the time he’s left. He is nearer and he'll also be back for the weekend in a few weeks time
