@LindsD I told both our son and daughter that going away to uni is both a big change but also an opportunity to reinvent themselves.

And us academics will keep an eye out for them. The vast majority fly beautifully (even if there are a few missteps along the way). Most universities have pretty forgiving procedures nowadays (so much so that when I saw the rules for Medicine, I was appalled).

Pothunter
D1 is 18 today! Touch wood she’s had a good start to the new academic year. She’s repeating year 12 having missed so much last year. She’s coping well at the moment and enjoying it. Her weight is slowly coming up but she’s still very resistant to increasing consumption. Transition from CAMHS to Adults is a bit of a worry and she’s got it into her head that now she’s 18 she can legally refuse treatment. Technically right, but potentially a disaster. We’re emphasising that if she wants to be treated like an adult she’s got to behave like an adult… |

Sounds stressful and hopeful in equal measure. Happy birthday D1.

I can see how that would be concerning pothunter, but weight going in the right direction is positive. How are all the empty nesters doing, have you all had a washing by visit now? |

Both my offspring have been back - and both brought some washing with them!
