Long time since I’ve send this thread pop up.

Had a little read back and last finisher is something I’ve done a couple of times my first time was at my first race. I soon learnt that ‘beautiful and scenic’ meant hilly! I had turned my ankle earlier in the week but stubbornly turned up complete newbie with ankle strap on which I had to take off part way round. I was last by about 35sec and came in to kinds of cheers and from the people heading home were all so supportive, the lady in front was overjoyed as she was normally last and I made her day.

2nd time was an inaugural race flat and fast and attracted all the fast runners I ran with my mam and we were last and the last time I hurt my foot 3m into a night marathon. A lady I spoke to at the beginning of the race caught up with me at mile 16 we were leapfrogging each other and she started to struggle so we opted to stay together, made final check point with minutes to spare. Turned out I broke it.

It’s took me 12ish years to not be bothered by being back of the pack and I’m enjoying my running so much more without the pressure of trying to be something I’m not naturally.

GM/FM in reply to your post last night, I'm OK. It's good to sort-of-see you again. I just don't know I came to be on this thread. I discovered that there were posts on this, and so I came in. I must have pressed something; I put it down to old age!

GG, it's a pleasant surprise to see you here.

Before I entered any races, I assumed that I'd be last or thereabouts. In the event I wasn't!

It's an old thread from 2016, re-kindled (again) Ev.

This mornings 3 miler was harder than it should have been. I scraped in under 40 minutes but would have been over if I'd done the full 5k. Never mind; it's another run in the bag and all training helps, right?!

certainly does FestiveMedals, miles and runs count more than how long it took. Well done.

I think when I joined this Ev I only dreamt of a sub 30 - still not good at them.

Dvorak
I'll be hoping for a sub-30 5K - sometime in 2021. I was there at the start of the year, but have drifted out (quite) a bit since then - can't fathom why ;-)

I once came 3rd lady for my club at a cross country event.

Now, there was only 3 of us so I actually came last.
So it depends on what way you think of it 🤣

It will soon come back, Dvorak, if you've been there fairly recently. A few weeks of constant training with a bit of speed work and you'll probably be sub 30 by the time parkrun starts again :)
