Nothing for me race-wise, just fannying around in Spain. Got my custonary starva holiday CR, just under 800m and had to average a shade under 5m/mile for a downhill segment to overhaul the previous holder be a few seconds. 80% humidity run today, went up a hill into the local village today and down again, not pushing the pace at all and didn't break sweat during the run down to the humidity. As soon as I got to the villa I was sweating like a (insert preferred term), not pretty. |

No full run for me . Failed to arrive and was raining so no warm up. Paced a friend and then nailed 1.2miles in 6.50.

Mile in 4:58.85, 77, 76, 75, 70. Job done. Tighter than planned but was windy and my mind wanted it to be as easy as possible with obviously the planned sprint finish. Being 'lazy' also meant I didn't break 70 on the sprint lap. 30 mins later 3000m in 10:11.58. Started with an 82 lap and then ran 80ish, think at 6 mins (4.5 laps I was back on 10 mins pace. When the pacer I had stolen* dropped, I lost a bit but a 75 last lap would have got me around 10:05 which I thought was doable, unfortunately I got a stitch in the last 200 and so crawled in with an 82 lap. Apart from missing out on another chance to practice my kick, pretty happy with that. *Had a Keitany/ Cheruiyot pacer moment as after the slower first lap, I maintained pace and caught the circa 10 pacer (started at 9:53 but was flexible depending on how the race went) who then sped up to pace me, dropping the runner they were running with (the runner had started to slow quite a bit and ended up running 10:40). |

For the mile, it was definitely odd standing on the start line knowing I wasn't going all out and my target should be easy. Definitely not the way to get the adrenaline going.

Pacer dropped out at 4.5. Splits from mile are watch splits. 3000m info came from clock and guy on 3000 start line calling splits apart from the bell lap where I pressed the button as I wanted to measure my kick.

Hey guys, just thought see if anyone wanted to join us for the MK5000 PB Special on Saturday 11 August in 2 weeks? It's going to be an awesome 5000m party with almost 200 entries so far but capacity for more! We've got paced graded races for affiliated club runners with times in the last 18 months of upto 21.59. Kicking off around 3pm races get quicker through the afternoon with the elite races taking place from 7.45pm with women looking to go 15.xx and men looking for 13.5x! At the moment we have 32 entries with 17.xx and 18 entries with 18.xx recent PBs so you'll have plenty of company and be able to hop on the PB train. It's free entry for spectators and we've got trackside food and drinks festival and the crowd will be encouraged into lane 4 to get close to support! Enter by end of tomorrow (Tuesday) to get your name on your bib; otherwise entries close on Friday (3rd August). Hope to see you there! Entry portal is entries.opentrack.run |
