Just plateau fatigue. Would be good to see some small improvement. Must be patient.

Sizzler tonight also. Sub 17 would be nice i'm there or thereabouts (17.08 gun time last time) just need to try & pace off some of the known Chortlton Runners 16.40-50's - that's if they're there & I can recognise them & keep them in sight!

Elliot, would LOVE to give that one a go, but I'm going to be away, unfortunately. I can imagine being propelled to a PB by others there otherwise. Nick Earl is a local runner from here (although he's been based in Australia for the last little while and comes back for summers). I'll be up against him in a 10K on Sunday. I think he'll edge it, though.

Cheers NN & ta for shout at start & chat at finish!
16.52 tonight.
16s pb & sub 17 goal hit. Set off at 16.40-50 pace using other runners I recognised as pace markers. Spot on through 2km then tried not to panic as hr was 190+ with my usual max at 194. Eased back in km3 to get hr down to 187 then hung onto those around me as best I could. Hit 197bpm at finish.
About 2km a guy ahead got floored by a dog, looked painful but he shouted he was ok as another runner went to help him.
Watch splits km ahr (mhr) 1: 3.22 a177 2: 3.20 a186 3: 3.28 a188 4: 3.22 a190 5: 3.20 a193 m197

Good work Rhb, congrats on the PB.
Regarding backing off, did you actually feel like you needed to back off or was it just the stats you saw?

SPR - Thanks. I felt I was starting to chase people not time, had time in bank, and didn't want to be at 190+ at that point as I might fade lots. So a combo of things really!
