That is true rosehip. My podiatrist had me working on my hammies and calfs, although it wasn’t a quick win for me sadly.

Just wondering if anyone has tried Altra shoes over the years for a daily trainer (I did do a search but nothing really recent)? I’m looking at it mainly from a viewpoint of managing/helping PF as although they’re cushioned, they’re much more foot shaped and from the blurb let the foot work more naturally. I’m looking at the Altra Torin, but they’re zero drop, which would be very different for me.
Any views?
(I’ve posted this in a marathon training thread as well so apologies if you see this twice).

Sorry, nothing to offer on Altras. I know a few people use them and love them (more generous room for toes, esp relevant for ultras, as feet can swell even more than marathons). But nothing specific to PF. Best of luck. G

I've never tried Altras, but (touch wood!) I haven't had a recurrence of my PF since I started doing most of my running in minimalist shoes (Vivobarefoot in my case).
Obviously, I have no way of knowing if there's a causal link, or it's just a case of post hoc ergo propter hoc.

And from the opposite view: walking around the house in zero drop shoes or barefoot is fine now and I think it helps stretch and strengthen my feet - but took a while to adjust to
I cannot cope with low or no drop shoes to run or hike in and have given up trying it just swaps PF for achilles and knee issues.

Thanks all.
Rosehip, that is one concern I have as well, potentially swapping one issue for another. I’d have to try and build up slowly with them if I tried them. I’ll give it some more thought.

I use Altras but with my prescribed orthotics. Sadly it was with the Altras that my latest PF flare up happened but I do love them.

Thanks for your info. I have better and worse days, so I expect I am stuck with it. I have been swapping slippers for old trainers indoors some days.

I seem to have aggravated my left foot staying in bed all day 🤷♀️

It's early days, but I am hopeful: have had heel pain every morning for months now, it wears off quickly but for the first few minutes out of bed I hobble around like a nonagenarian. Saw the Enertor insole ads on FB and decided it was worth a try and they are AMAZING: no pain this morning, and I can really feel the difference when I run. They are not cheap (£32) but they're a lot less expensive than trying a fancy new pair of trainers which might or might not work. And no I am not on commission Hoping the effect lasts....
Anyone else tried these?
