Had mixed reactions with them. They set it off in one pair of trainers (Mizuno's I think) so I took them out but put them back into my Brooks when I started getting a niggle and they have been great.

Hope your PF is feeling better Linds.
IM, good to hear you've found an insole that helps. I tried the Muller support arch which you can put in any shoe or even in socks or barefoot.
Made mine worse with some crouching at the fire for an hour. Got to be bizarrest cause of PF ever?! G

I have had a couple of weeks off running, basically felt knackered and then had a week's holiday away when the opportunity didn't arise. Morning foot pain is reduced. I think mine is related to something in my hip area being tight, which does something to the knee area and feeds down to my foot, rather than being directly related to the foot, the symptoms are just worse down there.

Had a bad flare up again with being in the house for a week when LittleD had Covid. Also my slippers have worn out and been thrown away. I really can't walk barefoot in the house for any length of time. It's OK again now.

I haven’t tried those particular insoles but have tried others, including some that were made for me, but I really don’t think they made any difference.
We’ve got hard floors downstairs, and I can’t walk on it without slippers. We’ve got tiles in the kitchen which are laid really well, but if I happen to step on a join between two tiles, it hurts. Carpets upstairs are okay to walk on in socks.
I’m still doing everything but I’ve had a flare up recently that has knocked me back. I think, for me (and I know we each react differently), it’s the calf stretches that have the most benefit, especially downward dog where I really feel it hits the spot, plus stepping on a peanut massage ball to roll the foot over.
It’s funny as I had a summer holiday doing a lot of walking in mountains, on the go a lot, on my feet a lot, running a bit. I came back from that and it had pretty much gone! But it flared up again a few weeks afterwards

It's worth looking at all circumstantial evidence G - work shoes of mine were a contributor at one point. A mile plus walk to work from train in them was enough to make it much worse. Check all causes, no matter how bizarre!
I still recommend some barefoot running on soft grass if you can. Strengthens the arch is my thinking. Short and slow initially. Gradually build it up. I don't do it often enough but think it can help. G

Still suffering. At the start of November I logged a message to the GP. I had a phone call on 11th and a face to face today 30th November. She's going to send a link to some exercises for me to do and line a up a call with the physios for sometime in the indefinite future, six weeks or so. She didn't say stop running. I have changed my slippers to some memory foam ones from Sketchers, because I am indoors at home all the time, and my walking shoes from knackered Inov8 trainers to some Merrell walking shoes, but I don't think the shoes have helped much, I probably need some insoles for them.

Things have improved a bit for me on the PF front. Sort of.
Any running still makes my feet ache lots for the next two days. I did manage a 50 mile event (not "race") earlier this year and took running poles, but didn't really need them. The foot pain started at 2/10 and never really went beyond 3/10, to my surprise.
The worse pain is now in my right foot, whereas it started in the left foot. Is this progress? Or just a change? Still stretching. Still not stretching enough. Paid for a podiatry appointment several months ago and the biggest advice was that rest is bad - keep active - if you can't run 5k, run 1k; if that's too much, walk. But keep stretching.
Orthotics advice was that this is, long term, a bad thing. It stops the foot supporting itself and being strong enugh to avoid inflammation. However, it can make all the difference short or medium term to, literally, get you back on your feet in order to regain foot strength.
One big positive is that I no longer get woken up during the night when the foot pain is just too much to sleep through. That's real progress.
53 mile race entered next April - it's going to be slower than ever before, but it'll be great to be out there and taking part. Better get stretching in readiness...
