Yes HappyG(rrr)! Number 11 coming up, a guaranteed PW (that's fine) with loads of walking. Would be nice to do a bit of running in preparation, but indoor rowing (and stretching) will have to do for now. [on the plus side I hit a 10k rowing PB a couple of days ago, so, y'know, every cloud...] |

I had a phone call with the NHS GP physio yesterday and he made a booking for me to see him next Monday. He took my history (again, all told now to two doctors), what exercises the GP had sent over and other medical history about inflammatory conditions like arthritis, Crohns, etc. which I don't have. I did have iritis over 20 years ago, and that is related to such things I believe. He suggested insoles, so I asked him to recommend some and he sent a link to these on Amazon amazon.co.uk which at six quid aren't going to break the bank, so I have ordered some. They might help with the Merrell walking shoes, which I have currently adjusted with a wodge of polyester toy stuffing under the heel.

Hi icemaiden, how did you get on with the Amazon insoles?

The insoles are OK. I don't know if they are helping but they probably aren't making it worse. If they are doing anything the bad foot gets a massage when I walk.

I have also had a face to face with the physio. He gave me different stretches to do. I don't thinknit any worse and might be a bit better. I haven't done any back to back days of being on my feet doing touristy stuff lately. Running is OK. It gets a it stingy after a longer run.

Thanks icemaiden for the update on the insoles. I’ll try some when I next have access to Amazon. I’ve tried just about everything over the last 18 months and have nearly cured it a couple of times but keep getting set backs (a rough cross country Half Marathon last year was a big mistake when I’d nearly beat it). But I’ve heard that for most people it just takes time.

And that it is never cured only managed Shaker? 10 years for me. Home slippers still aggravate it for me. And some work shoes. Running shoes fine. I'll take that! ![]() |

10 years is a bit daunting! I know what you mean HappyG(rrr)about the carpet slippers. I struggle to walk anywhere in any footwear without discomfort but can run with few problems, hope I don’t have to settle for that!

1 / 10 or 2 / 10 pain Shaker. Really not bad. Not the thing that is stopping me running or walking. Fingers crossed you get to a good place. ![]() |

I’m back needing to manage a PF flare up again. I’ve been running then feeling it sore the day after, taking a couple of days off, rolling and massaging my foot then running and it’s recurring, so time to change something. So a real focus on stretching, especially calf muscles next week and then I’m on holiday, so some enforced rest. I’ll have a read back and get some advice. It must be over 10 years since I last had a problem |
