Tail walker or not I can’t see myself ever walking past somebody in the obvious distress of throwing up and not checking on them

I think a tactful email to the event would be in order, so they can make sure they are briefing tail walkers that they have a safety role to play.

I’ll hold my hands up and admit that when I’m RD, and I know a person has been a tail walker a few times before, I assume they know what they are doing. I’ll certainly make sure I remind tail walkers of their safety role when I’m RD in future.

Good point FDNB - I don't think I've ever briefed the tail walkers when I've been RD.

oumaumau - I'd agree a tactfully worded 'disappointed' email is in order. Disappointed not checked/helped and also disappointed being overtaken by tail walkers and extra disappointed when timing stopped but in sight of the finish.
Hope she is OK now - other than miffed?

I agree absolutely that a tactful email is in order about this. We include the tailwalker in our marshals briefing because they are walking (or maybe running) marshals and if any of them see a runner in distress it's their job to stop and help.

I would imagine the core team would react the same way as we do so let them know for sure.

If I was an RD and I found out that had happened I would ask for a time to add Mrs O into the results.
