I trust that isn't a personal attack on KinkyS there?

Not a personal attack. Hopefully it didn't come across as such.

Don't get me wrong, I come into contact with many wonderful cowl wearers, hope to become one myself, and the sheer thought of doing enough events to earn it is motivating my boy (although whether he can get one without a Facebook account to join the group is another question that I'll address nearer the time).

However, I have noticed that if ever someone wants to make an ill-informed comment on how I can make the event better than it already is, then obviously they're the sort of person who has done lots of different events, and they tend to use their tourist status as their "in" as to how they know best.

I'm a bit jaded, to be fair, and was ten minutes away from stepping down as RD a couple of months ago as I'd had a bit of a run of consecutive weeks of people telling me what to do, culminating in one gentleman summoning both the ED and RD to debrief us on what we were doing wrong.

About the cow-cowl

The cow-cowl is a club garment for the Facebook group 'UK parkrun tourists'. It was designed by group members to help fellow UK tourists to recognise each other while visiting different parkruns around the world. Details are to be found in the group's pinned post, including the story behind the cow symbol and its significance to parkrun tourism.

I had never heard of this. But I don't see why it should be "sad". Seems like a bit of fun and just another type of community from some pretty dedicated parkrunners. :-) G

That was in response to Saint's question on prev page, not DeeGee's above post.

It is supposed to be a bit of fun, and so it should be.

I like badges and being part of a team.

DG - RDs are awesome, all of them. Sadly at parkrun I am often part of the silent majority that loves it, might tanks the Marshalls during a run but may never actually peak to an RD. Still love you all thought, so don't be jaded by the negative minority

Cheers, I'm actually and ED, and was *this close* to jacking it all in after four years, especially with more and more obligations being imposed on events by HQ, but speaking to everyone that *does* enjoy a trot round the park at Cleethorpes makes it all worth doing.

Thankfully my wonderful core team allow the event to kind of run itself now, and I can just sit back, renew the risk assessment and order supplies.

What is unbelievably sad about having a way of recognising people IRL when you have only chatted to them online? A bit like a Fetch vest really...
