I know many cow cowl wearers. All of whom are very pleasant people. I know many who are entitled to wear the cowl but choose not to who are also pleasant people .

Unfortunately if someone happens to be an a***hole and has something that identifies them its the "bags that gets remembered.

Hopefully all fetchies are on best behaviour when they wear their Fetch buffs.

I qualify for a cow cowl but not yet got round to getting one. I htink they are a great idea and always try to make a point of chatting to any visiting cow cowlers at our run. As others have said, on the whole most people in any group are lovely but the odd one that isn't spoils it for others and tarnishes the badge as that is what people remember.

Although I have done a lot of parkruns in various places over the last 12 years since starting parkrunning I do (rather hypocritically one might argue) have an issue with uber tourists. It sort of feels a bit against the orignal ethos of parkrun which was, as I recall, to have an event that created/encouraged local communities with minimal environmental impact and which used to actively encourage walking/cycling to events. Somehow the whole tourist thing seems anti that. Or maybe I'm just a grump old fart :)

What would be the best way to provide constructive feedback to a ED or RD who was seen to be doing something that could possibly have been done better?

For example, at a recent event there were a couple of funnel duckers (boo hiss). It was a relatively long token queue, they obviously needed to get off sharpish and they clearly didn't realise how much grief ducking out would cause.

The ED/RD(?) spotted them and spoke to them with a raised voice and harsh tone that attracted quite a lot of attention and I think came over as rather rude. The duckers clearly weren't impressed with the dressing down. I think it would have been much better to calmly explain why they need to stay in line, recognise their frustration at waiting, but reassure them that the tokens are being dished out as fast as possible and ask them to rejoin.

Afterwards a few people independently commented on the "power crazed marshal" who was "telling people off", so it did attract some negative attention.
