Plus 1 for Tasers, I suggested them years ago for the gormless people who insist on standing in the middle of the path prior to 9:00 blocking cyclists etc.

Why not have another free T Shirt that they can earn?
After all, we all love a freebie
Next time they have to run in the "Parkrun Tw@t Of The Week T Shirt".

One of our core team who was pacing (38 mins) realised before the start that she had forgotten her bar code. Fortunately, her husband who was a 22 min pacer was able to shoot off home when he’d finished and bring her bar code back.

We seem to be getting an increasing number of people emailing in to say 'there barcode didn't scan as theyre showing as unnknown'. Call me a cycnic bit given everyone else has scanned ok I'm suspicious they just forgot their barcode. We usually give benefit of doubt & add in but one lady's husband emailed in to say this & when I looked at our unscannable list her name was on with her noted as having no barcode - I politely replied on this occasion we couldn't add her in as she was on list without barcode!

parkrunners should be grateful there's such an effective timing / recording system in place in any event. I take part in a local road league which uses pre-recorded lists of names held by clubs and individual finish tokens handed out. Despite also having a video of the finish line, the results secretary is still trying to resolve issues from last Wednesday's race because of anomalies between tokens, club lists and finish video etc. parkruns getting results out so swiftly are a miracle, and part of that is because of generally good adherence to no barcode, no time etc.

It is a joke that people take their results so seriously as to get wound up with volunteers.

I had an email this weekend saying that someone had travelled without barcode could I add him in because it was important for his club champs. Er no. See no barcode, no result, no exception. He replies ah I understand that but the race director (his words) said it was okay and he would add him in.

Words fail me at times.

12bar....if it upsets you or people upset you. Stop volunteering. I did years ago.

I am inclined to agree with um. Anyone who abused one of our volunteers might find that their result somehow didn't appear the next couple of weeks either.

There was an issue with scans at Fulham Palace recently, all sorted out very efficiently with a request for those who appeared as 'Unknown' to send in position/time if known. This is why I always make a note of my finish position - just in case.
