That's good, Mike - I know my local parkrun has the attitude that the rule is no barcode, no time, but if you have one, however illegible the scanner finds it, they'll bend over backwards to make sure you do get a time.
Good for you, 12bar, unbelievable the sense of entitlement some people have. Well, sadly it's believable enough, if offensive and disappointing.
Storming job ER.
Hadn't even got up at parkrun time this morning and wouldn't have been up for the local one here anyway- long drive full of diversions, roadwork and storm last night and the last thing I wanted to do was drive 5 miles first thing.

Sympathy 12bar.
Sticking to the no barcode rule does reduce the frequency of these incidents, but it never goes away entirely.

I'm a fan of clear rules and the no-barcode-no-time one works. Sadly, there is nothing much you can do if a-holes turn up. Hope your volunteer isn't put off

TomahawkMike Pleased you enjoyed your visit to the dock and battled against the wind. It turned out to be quite an eventful morning as one of the volunteers was a true hero, diving into the water to rescue someone who had jumped off the footbridge. Hoping that both are ok.

LD - Very quick reactions hopefully saving the day. The tailwalker spotted a lady sitting on the bridge, luckily the marshal at the turn on that side of the dock reacted quickly calling the security guards meanwhile the marshal on the other side dived in. The emergency services arrived within minutes. Both taken to hospital ( marshal as a cautionary measure ).

Thank goodness for that. I hope the woman involved gets the help she needs.

That explains all the police sirens and the ambulance at the end of the run. That really is taking volunteering to a new level. Well done to that marshall.

Had a lovely (slightly hungover) run at Dublin Poolbeg parkrun yesterday
It’s like a familiar comfort when you get the briefing, and the similarities in scanners, tokens etc. Coupled with the excitement of a new place.
I’m calling it my first international parkrun!
Vow to do more tourism
I think it’s my 16th different location

Bob!
I was RD at Maldon Prom yesterday. Had someone who hadn't got his barcode. Told him the rule.
'OK I'll go back to my car and get it then'
