Obviously I can’t divulge to much, but the obnoxious b*****d who was the second runner to complain yesterday has emailed in wanting to know why he hasn’t got a time.
I sometimes wonder why I bother. At the end of the day, I’m just a volunteer. It’s not as if I get paid to put up with the type of bullying verbal abuse that idiot dished out.
I want to say one or two things, but I better keep my gunpowder dry.
Bloody hell, there’s terrible things going on in this world, & all he’s got to worry about is getting his run registered.

That's an easy answer. No barcode, no time, no exceptions.

Just chill out. Remember there no one they can complain to which will mean they get a time. I am always very polite and just say that's the rule and no matter what has happened elsewhere at this parkrun they need a barcode. Invite them back to run again next week and they will get a time if they remember their barcode.

Bu**ers don't understand and are not grown up enough to respect volunteering

Thanks for your calming words everyone.
I just can't believe the bloke still thinks he's entitled to a result even though he didn't have a barcode.
On a more humorous note, perhaps parkrun towers should issue all volunteers with parkrun tasers. 10,000 volts would soon shut a few people up.
Yes, I know, I'm being silly now, but on the other hand_______!!!!!!!

CW is far too 'nice' ... I'd advocate putting a mark against his (or her?) name on the pr db that automatically blocked any times for the next x runs, or until they'd done 3 timing volunteer roles.
I know & get inclusivity, but abuse (or any iffy words) to volunteers shouldn't be acceptable behaviour - whether verbal or email.

Is garroting still frowned upon?
