Gobi, I was wondering if you were down this way for a cycling event? They seemed to be setting something up on the Velopark when I was there for parkrun earlier.

I had an entertaining parkrun. On a section where there are runners going both ways, I was keeping left as per normal instructions when the front runner came back towards me. We were on a slight left bend. He headed to his right, ie the shortest line round the bend and straight at me. I couldn't go any further left so tried to move right out of his way. Whereupon he went to his left (perhaps having just noticed me), then grabbed me by both both shoulders and shoved me into a bush. Undoubtedly my fault, I should just have stayed where I was on the left and let him either hit me or dodge round me at the last second, but I didn't expect to up lying on my back in the bushes with a bit of a sore head where I'd hit the ground. Needless to say he didn't stop to check if I was ok, or even hang around at the finish to check either. I'm glad he managed to break 18 minutes and so I can't have slowed him down too much! Had a chat to the RD afterwards. Interestingly one of my pals had a very similar close encounter with the first woman a few seconds later. I suspect we will hear lots about it at the next briefing!

Gosh that’s not good, I hope you’re ok! I was once ran into a ditch in a similar situation by the leading lady wanting to take the shortest line but thankfully not so severe

WayOfTheDodo thats not good, and it sounds like you are being very generous to the winner. He could at least have hung around afterwards.

WotD. What a crap experience. It isn't your fault, no need ever to do that to a person and especially for the runner to not show concern. Nasty.
