Course Check, Setup and run at Mile End this weekend.
One of our regulars is due to run his 500th overall/250th Mile End - so I'm expect there will be significant volumes of cake.

dobbers the rocks are big so run on the edges when you do the section next to the water. You run this section both ways.

Tourism at Lydiard - Last time I visited there (back in about 2012 I think), with a couple of miles of my journey to go, another car skidded on ice into the back of my car and wrote it off. As if that wasn't bad enough, the parkrun was cancelled anyway, due to the same ice! Some very nice parkrunners helped me with the situation. Hoping that this time is a little less eventful!

I speculated a few years ago that Britain might end up punching above its weight in middle distance due to kids running parkrun. It's similar to the high school sprint situation in Jamaica - it means that a decent proportion of the naturally talented sportspeople in the country have had the opportunity to try the sport out, take part in competitive races from an early age and be funnelled into clubs and eventually the elite coaching setups. I'm aware of several teenagers who've gone to US colleges on athletic scholarships through starting running as kids at parkrun, and you might reasonably expect some proportion of those to end up in GB vests in future.

I guess last year's 1500m world championship winner, Jake Wightman, is also a pretty keen parkrunner.
