I would concur with those praising Monsal Trail and it's excellent cafe. Got to get in the queue before pesky hordes of cyclists on a nice morning though 😉.

There seemed to be some confusion a few pages back between parkrun numbers (given out alphabetically on introduction then sequentially) and barcodes that appeared later to simplify the recording of those numbers. I've mentioned before (without anyone corroborating so I may be horribly wrong) that when I signed up in Feb 2009 I remember picking a 'memorable word' which appeared in the spreadsheet of registrants downloaded by the core team. Presumably to make it easier to work out which John Smith was presenting a finishing dogtag.

You certainly had to sign up by 6pm Friday in those days to allow time for the core team to downloadn 2009, but it was all online by 2011 when I first had to process results.
