@Torque Steer both Mrs TS and now you really have had a rough patch over the last several months plus. Puts my recent petty gripes into perspective. Hope it is all moving in the right direction from now on.

@Canute great to hear your knee is holding up despite the increase jogging durations. I'm not familiar with 'fell running'. First I heard of it was in this thread. Not certain if that's an NZ thing or just my lack of contact with club running fraternity? Seems an activity with significant potential to exacerbate damage to your knees? Is fell walking an acceptable alternative to fell running? Or is there something special about running vs walking in the hills?

Due to work commitments (got behind over the last couple of weeks!), first run for the week this morning: 51 min / 8.3 km, including several strides (first couple quite gentle though). Somewhat faster than Sunday's effort but B/km still at the same ~783 level 🙁.

May do an @EarlyRiser '10 km race at short notice' trick! Just realised there is a local one here on 20 Oct, so just over 3 weeks out. Tempting as 8km of it is around my familiar estuary stomping track. At least for me, more a case of trying to regain fitness lost over the past 2 - 3 weeks. Likely will require a concerted effort though.

@NZD Thanks for your comment. Fell running is exhilarating of account of the skill required, and inspiring on account of the landscape; fell walking offers inspiration but less exhilaration. Whatever my future as a runner, I am now confident that I will be able to continue fell walking for foreseeable future; I will need to weigh up the wisdom of fell running in future depending on outcome of my current programme.

I hope your own recovery of fitness goes well.

@NZD Thanks - it has been a bit full on of late!

On fell running - just two words to look up - Joss Naylor

Your 10K can't be missed - it must be your local race and therefore can't be ignored:-)

@Canute good to hear you are at least back up there

@OO61 that's not the sort of taper I had in mind :-)

Tried to exert my brain this morning - it hurt, so work off for another couple of days unfortunately as it continues to pile up

Even wordle was an effort in four!!

Hopefully that will be the end of the story @Torque Steer . Sorry to hear you've had a rough time.
Slow longer run for me today along the coast to Marwick Head.
Sounds a good run @OO61

another hour for me, in two 30 mins gave myself a 3 minute walk between them but that was probably too long. Getting there, but it really is a challenge to the head!

@Rosehip yes tourist trail but the path splits and take the right fork to Latrigg 👍
@Canute the views were fantastic over derwentwater but grey and stormy. I also like fell walking, but less so fell running....Hope the knee hols up 🤞
Dreadful weather today so decorating is replacing running.

- I can't imaging running all the way up to there @OO61 - I did try - and failed to run the whole lane without walking. Now you've mentioned this I'm tempted to have it as a target :)

I'm too much of a chicken for proper fell-running - and too clumsy :) but love jog-walking along the boggy flat tops and wider ridges. I need a visible wide trod to run down, no heather/stone hopping for me. But I am a born and bred flatlander.

I used to quite enjoy the odd fell run, but always struggled uphill; most of the fell races that I did were fairly disastrous!

Making progress, @Canute !

Saw physio, and he was cautiously pleased with progress. To up the strength work, aqua jogging and to add one or two minutes to my runs per week.

Wordle in four, also.
