If I run or cycle late I struggle sleeping even if it’s not that late i.e. a 6:30-7 pm finish is late enough to impact on sleep. I assume this is endorphins and adrenaline

Will weight training or core work/ body weight work have the same effect?

That's brilliant i_w!

No idea EP - evening training is not my favourite right now but when I used to do it it didn't bother me.

I don't find doing a resistance session affects me in the same way as going for a late run would. In particular, I don't get restless legs from doing weights.

I'd tend to agree with V-rap. I often have evening athletic meets - comps - and I really can't sleep. Am a head hits pillow and I'm out sort of person as a rule. Anyway I KNOW this now so I get home, usally after a long public transport journey - have a hot drink, some small thing to eat, write a blog or report before even thinking about bed.

Core or body weight work I would expect to be pretty good for sleep. Kind of a nice physical tiredness with a bit of luck, esp with a few enjoyable stretches afterwards.

I don't make any great claims for stretching but it can be relaxing and feel good after an exercise session.

Best thing is a warm (hot in my case) bath though! (I limit these though, for obvious reasons)

... a weights wire for women.

And in case you're wondering about that title, well, I like alliteration and one can be too po-faced about the use of girl/lady/woman.

Here's a strength standards for women thing Duracel found for us
