Gah. No weight training for me since 4th Jan :-( I know it’s not long in the grand scheme of things, but it was all going so well until I got lurgified. Really hoping to be back in the gym at some point this week.

It's too easy to lose the routine when something like illness gets in the way, isn't it.

That's so true, GM. While away for our Christmas holiday, Mr Ness and I had access to a hotel gym but the equipment wasn't anywhere near as good as that we use at home so we didn't do much while we were there. I reduced the weights for some of the exercises I do and built back up gradually. That worked well for me.

It's frustrating but it's best to not overdo it when ill. Should hopefully lead to a quicker recovery.

Thanks, SPR. I still can’t shake the cough / sore throat. :-(

Might try a gentle session back on Wednesday.

I did a gentle session back today. I also did a timed deadhang - 1min 29. I was quite happy with that for a starting point.

That's a decent hang, Cath.
I still haven't joined the gym yet, mainly because I haven't been to the local leisure centre for a swim yet this year so haven't added it onto my membership. I really ought to get round to it this week.

Nice channelling your inner bat, Cath 😀 Hope the lurgy clears soon.

I went to the gym for the first time in a couple of weeks. I've been not going because of the weather. I know there isn't any weather in the gym, but I tend to leave at 04:30 and I didn't think the neighbours would take kindly to a lot of engine running and/or windscreen scraping at that time. Also, the snow was quite bad around our estate, and RWD, argh.

I did manage to slot back into doing 1 set of 6 45kg deadlifts, and 2 sets of 6 55kg without too much issue, apart from the fact that I *really* should have gone for a wee before I started. (No accidents but some muscle concentration needed.) The rest of the exercises, I struggled on the third set at the same weight as a couple of weeks ago. Never mind, it'll build again.

I definitely felt energised for getting back into it, enough that I got enthusiastic and planned to go for an early lunch and run at about 10:00. Then shit happened at work and I missed my opportunity.
