Can't remember the last time I did a sit up. Agree that compound lifts so a good job with general trunk stability. Anyone that's done relatively heavy cleans will likely have failed with a tip forward at some point and will know about keeping the torso upright.

is that an app or just that there a comment! I can see there are lots of variations!

I'm hoping to get a core session in - trying to get back into the grove after my Christmas stress slump and plan some sessions

I’ve been doing some crunches, but find planks, Russian twists, heel taps work well

I think most of what I wanted to say had been covered. Basically as soon as you feel tension in your neck (or face!) and shoulders - or indeed any part of your back you are doing a sit up/crunch -even curl up WRONG.

There are so many other good and effective exercises it's not worth bothering unless you can get someone qualified to go through the move with you in person.

I thought my abs were in reasonable shape until I started dancing again!

I really need someone to go through the most basic core exercises. I just seem to end up with horrific tension headaches whenever I try to do the ones the physio suggested. Oddly lifting actual weights doesn't seem to cause the same issues.

Pix - dead bugs, start of simple and so slow movements. Then as you get more confident challenge yoursf by adding

A small weight in both hands

A larger weight held in both hands
Mini resistance band round feet
Or a mix of both

Lots of people do sit ups and I think many athletes do, still, I can't think of any sport that the action is useful for.

It might be one of, if not, the best exercise for developing a great six pack, not looked into that in any detail.

As Nic always says to me… a six pack is made in the kitchen first.

I.E. you need to get the layer of fat off them to be able to even see muscle, let alone definition…! :-)
