I had to Google what a dead bug was. I struggle to lift my legs to 90 deg but I’m going to add these to my work out.

I like the look of that 5 x 5 structure. Haven't settled into a routine of strength work this year, without a paid gym to go to. Those would give a great base to work on.

I thought getting under a barbell had my abdominals covered and didn't expect the DOMS I got a few days into the 12 Days of Fetchmas.

That's why I like doing my bootcamp and weights V'rap. I think they compliment eachother well.

I agree Teebs and admire you for it. It's so easy to ignore abs/stability stuff cos it's so boring (well I think so) I reckon the accountability of Bootcamp -and misery loves company obvs ;-) - is a big help.

Although I've realised there are many* forms of exercise I prefer to yoga, I'm trying to continue with this year's YWA 30 days as it's very core/stability focused and I know I need to do it.

When I say 'need to' I'm not making a moral judgement - it's merely that a strong and appropriately functioning centre (core) will make all the stuff I DO like doing so much easier and let's face it ... better.

sharkie that's spot on! I don't do core and it's because it's boring! It doesn't feel like a workout straight away
you run etc you know it
even strength work isn't always and immediate feeling and I'm all about the instant gratification
I know I should do core and more strength work but if something is to drop these are the first to go

I don't like doing core work unless I'm in a pilates class, I've lapsed from classes, must go back soon.

But my instructor gave me a little tabata routine for core and I do this at home quite happily as each set is only 2 minutes

Crunches 20 reps then 10 seconds to get into position for

Plank 20 seconds then 10 seconds to get into position for
Glute Bridge single leg lifts 20 reps then 10 seconds rest
Bicycle Crunch 20 reps then 10 seconds rest.

I usually do a minimum of 2 sets and that takes 4 minutes

About This Thread

... a weights wire for women.

And in case you're wondering about that title, well, I like alliteration and one can be too po-faced about the use of girl/lady/woman.

Here's a strength standards for women thing Duracel found for us
