Some progress. It's like magic, one row and wow, cables! Two things I've learned so far, I'm a very tight knitter and it hurts my fingertips! The girl loves it.

You will either learn to ‘loosen up’ a bit or go up a needle size to compensate JEB. I miss cables, I haven’t done anything more complicated than stocking stitch for a long time 😂

JEB that's brilliant lovely colours

I've only tried cables once - on a sock I was testing. Think I was too tight from memory and haven't been inspired to try again but that does look a fab hat

I will do a basic (hopefully quick) one for my friend

How far are you managing to get Beanie? Can we help? If it's joining in the round you can start off on straight needles for a few rows before you join. There'll be a tiny bit to sew up at the end.

If it's the cable and counting putting a few stitch markers in at equal numbers of stitches across can help.

Top tip for tight knitters, make sure you don’t knit on the tapered tips. Put the needle through far enough so you wrap the yarn around the wide part of the needle. (I make sure stitch pushes onto widest part of righthand needle before starting the next.)
