Come on Jef. You're going to get splinters in your arse if you sit on that fence any longer. You know you want to dust off that erg and leap back onto it!

No rowing or running for me today. I looked back through the logs and saw I hadn't had a rest day for over a week. I like to do six sessions a week, three of each. Otherwise I get a bit creaky.

I forgot to add that you do need to test yourself once in a while as well as all this training, it's good to have proper stab at a specific distance, just to remind yourself what it's like to commit early to a pace that might be a bit marginal...

At the rowing club we used to have a monthly 5k test through the winter (or 30 minutes, something longer than 2k, for sure). You'd pick a crew mate or two with similar ratings over that distance and crack on. I was going well when I was sub-18, but sometimes 18:30-ish was a REAL hard test when I wasn't in the mood ;-)

5k was my favourite! Really had time for the pain to soak in

F**k it. Let’s have a laugh then.

I’ll get in work gym at about 10:30 and do a good warm up and see how bad things have become. If I don’t post anything before mid-night it’s because I died.

Nellers. That training looks good. Looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Muttley. A rest is seriously due !

Crikey! Good splits Jef. Bet you were pleased to get under 8 too.

Sub-9 should be my short-term aim. At my fittest that's the pace I could sustain for 5k, so it would be a good marker.
