Yep, the bluetooth thing is a big change, and the only reason I upgraded my ancient model C to a PM5. I was lucky at the time I upgraded, a friend and only an intermittent rower had just had the grey screen of death on his PM3 so he was happy to buy my old one for a fair price. The PM5 allows you to set up sessions on your phone in Ergdata, row them, and then download them automagically to t'internet. If you buy a smartphone cradle ( shop-uk.concept2.com ) you can sit the phone on top of the monitor and have a customizable display, or row around a virtual loop with some other like-minded idiots. You can also do firmware updates via your phone: that annoying thing that's been bugging you? Probably fixed in the latest update. Jeez, I sound like some sort of PM5 salesman. |

Thanks folks. I think I have a look at this every 2 years or so and then come to the conclusion that I could simply type the data into whatever other system I care about, and I'm simply looking for an excuse not to use the bloody thing. In the dim and distant past I did have it hooked up to a laptop to do virtual racing etc but the connectors are obsolete. And I'm not doing structured sessions like most of you, so I think I'll save the £160 for now.
