Thanks sallykate/Mouseytongue.
I was actually surprised to get under 8 TBH. Checked the C2 log book. Last 2k way back in 2015 at BRIC = 02/08/15 2,000m 7:05.0 1:46.2 average.
Its a target to start on. I almost felt I missed that wonderful feeling of numbness and inability to walk away from the machine... almost.

I've updated the sidebar with your (rather impressive) effort Jef. Well done and welcome back! That's pretty amazing given that you've not rowed in such a long time. Muscle memory and run fitness count for something then?

60 minutes at "easy" pace (slower than 2:15/500m) this morning. Felt absolutely fine. Rate averaged 17/m with a little push to 21 for a few minutes near the end to see how that felt.
That's 54km this week after binning Monday and doing a shorter sessiion on wednesday after having that back issue last weekend. Quite satisfied with that.

Impressive after having such a long break, Jef!
Have just read back through the discussion about training plans - lots of food for thought there.
I've never coped well with high volume training, and ran my best times off about 3 runs a week (usually 1-2 intervals, maybe 1 medium distance at moderate effort and 1 long run).
I'd been thinking about adopting this kind of approach for rowing (i.e. about 3 sessions a week, with 1 short intervals, 1 longer intervals, and 1 steady row) but then saw the comments about building a wide base and wonder if I need to think again.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how running training translates into rowing training?

Nice metres Nellers. What’s your heart rate like on those ? % wise of max ?
Cats Whiskers. Anything airobic helps but the leg muscles used are very different. Rowing is squatting and dead lifting in movement. Cyclists seem to move between the two better.

Thanks, Jef. So it sounds like I'd be better off following something like the Pete Plan from scratch rather than making up my own version based on assumptions about what might work based on how I train best for running.

HR averaged 141 Jef, which is about where I'd do my easy running. Less than 70% of WHR if that's a measure you'd use.
