Welcome Rich!

Yup, that's the intention Muttley. Don't think I'll be closing the gap too much today but we're not halfway through the month yet...

Sinj - 42s/m! I've nudged into the high 30s before and felt like my technique had fallen apart completely. I'm sure your finish was much more controlled!

Glad you're on the mend, Nellers. Hopefully not too long now before you can start to phase the rowing back in.

Does anyone have any advice on trying to balance rowing and running throughout the week?

I'm trying to get back to doing some running and am thinking ahead (i.e. jinxing yet another comeback!) to when I might want a bit more variety in the running sessions. I still want the focus to be on rowing but enjoy running intervals etc. I'm struggling to see how to spread the sessions over the week. Should I group similar sessions, e.g. long row and long run close together, or try to spread them out, so long row and running intervals are close together? Or maybe I just need a two-week plan!

CW - 42s/m, yes it felt fairly ragged. I wasn't getting the compression in the legs at the finish/start of the stroke. Knees were no where near over my ankles. But I have noticed this in videos of others doing sprints.

I might have been in shock at pulling 1:22 for the first 30 secs...

Combining running/rowing. I ran London last year and did exactly this. As a HEAVY weight runner, my concerns were the high mileage on the knees.
I replaced all of my recovery runs with rowing sessions. So a mid-week 6 mile recovery run at 10:00 min/mile pace became a steady/easy 1 hour row.
I kept the LSRs, intervals and hill sessions. I had to replace 1 LSR with a gym session due to weather, but alternated between the treadmill and the rower for 2.5 hours.

I am not running at the moment, but would imagine spreading out the interval sessions, maybe even to the extent of alternate weeks?

Do you have the option of training twice a day? Even if this is only once or twice a week, it would give you more options.

I quit Mondays row after about 2K (was meant to be 8) as just felt down and unenthused. Had a good run yesterday and felt much better in general. 7x500m today with 1:45 rest faster than expected - well pleased. To top it off I then gave the 60 seconds another go and hit 305m - an imorovement of 6m :)

Morning. CW, I alternate runs and rows and find that they complement each other very well. I don't have any particular plans regarding hard or easy sessions, other than if my legs are properly shredded from a hard run I'll maybe not go flat out on the erg the next day. But even then, I might be tempted because the erg is so good at flushing out the legs.

They say that the erg is 60 percent legs, so I reckon that even a hard 10,000m would equal roughly 4 miles of running. Also, on the erg my heart rates are significantly lower than when running, about 10-15 bpm. I guess what I'm saying is that you may not need to make too much allowance because of the different loading in the two activities. Especially if running is your second, with erging the first.

Well done to Rog and Sinj for those 1-minute times! Excellent going.

For me, a steady 10,000 metres this morning. Significantly better numbers on pace and heart rate than last time. Probably an outlier but I'll bank them anyway.

Looks interesting but I'd have to get my arm/bicep/elbow sorted, some pretty significant speedwork done and buy the appropriate cable assuming my internet is up to the task.

Hmmm.

I guess I hold off until my arm settles down and see what's what then.

I didn't see whether they're streaming it anywhere. I'd be keen to watch it if I'm not racing.

yeah - great link.

I went for the C2 one recently and it's made enough of a difference from a comfort level to not think about looking for anything else. It also helped me into a more comfortable position in general - possibly because I'm between two foot placement settings without one. I do feel my range of motion/flexibility has improved since I started regularly on the rower.
