Afternoon All, and Hi Mandymoo - hope you enjoy the new rowing machine (got mine a couple of months back and definitely glad I did). Very interested in the discussion on balancing rowing and running training - I’m currently doing 5 sessions of each a week, probably means neither are optimal but is definitely doing me good during these strange days we are living in (and making the most of eliminating 90 mins of driving every day for now). I’ve been trying to follow the beginners’ Pete Plan for a couple of weeks now and decided to try my first 2k max effort this morning - really pleased with 7:39.3 |

That's shifting Rich. I've added you to the leaderboard on the sidebar. Well done. Welcome Mandymoo. Enjoy the rower. Shout up if you've got any questions. Someone on here will have an answer, or know where to find one. |

Evening. And greetings to MM. That's quite an OH you have there! Loads of good info in the wiki to the right ---->. The training principles and plans are very similar as for running, really. What kind of rower is it? I think most of us use Concept 2's so if yours is different the stats won't be comparable, but that doesn't really matter. For me, just an easy 45 minutes this morning. Had to slow towards the end as hr was drifting a little, but it was warm in the lounge. |

Mine is one from Lidl that was on offer. It has a built in computer and 8 training functions.

I remember seeing them in my local Lidl and thinking that if I didn't already have a C2 I'd probably grab one. Obviously a knock-off but Lidl stuff tends to be good. I'd be interested to hear how this performs, esp if you've used a Concept2.

A former work colleague bought one of those a while back and really enjoyed using it. I’d recommend looking at some technique videos and getting good pointers before throwing yourself at it MandyMoo. Once you’ve practiced doing it wrong it’s very hard to correct things. It’s taking me ages! Funny session this afternoon. 5 minutes of drills then 4km intended to be the start of a 4/3/2/1 km split session to make it easier to swallow, bottled that and just did a 6 km piece to finish off. Not sure what that tells me about where my head or my fitness is! |
