Morning. MM: no particular rules as such to govern increasing distance, but as well to ease into it like you would running. Worth checking out something like the Beginner's Pete Plan for a varied introductory schedule. As regards resistance, on the C2s it's called drag factor -- generally the advice is to put the lever at about 4 out of 10 on the cage. Light and fast rather than dragging an anchor. You might have to figure out the equivalent setting for your machine but it looks like it works along the same principles. Reporting 3 x 15 minutes at 20, 24, and 22 spm. I'm finding it useful to focus on the stroke rate more than the pace. A little over 10,000 metres done, which I think is not quite enough to catch Rich on the distance table. But close enough to breathe down his neck |

Mandymoo, scouting around the Dark Horse Rowing youtube channel might be really good for you. He does some great stuff on technique (he can go very deep with it but you don't need to unless you're trying to shave fractions off your times)and he also does some good row along workouts for beginners through to advanced. Declaring a 60 minute steady state session this evening covering 13.5km. Feeling much more comfortable on the slide now than a week ago. Next week will be a bit of a push on for some good base building I think. |

Well that was exciting! 5:49.8 in his kitchen. Luckily he had a plastic jug handy because after the finish he demonstrated how hard he'd worked. Puking on your livestream is a sign of true class. What it must be to have the ability and talent to be genuinely and legitimately disappointed with 5:49.8. |

Well that's an interesting challenge with no rest days in-between. Might give that a go, although I also might forget which day is which and do the wrong thing. I got nudged towards the British Rowing Virtual Champs again yesterday. Tempted but it might be a bit soon after the bicep strain. Might see how I feel about things after the Heptathlon. |

Thinking about the heptathlon thing too. I thought you could decide which day to do which session.

You're right SK. I just reread it. Complete the 7 events within the 7 days. Any order. You can do several on a single day.

i'm tempted by the heptathlon challenge but still not rowed over 8K. perhaps it's time to 'suck it up, cupcake' and just get on with it. The rest of it would certainly be manageable and fun.
