Thanks everyone. As 2 of the sessions are the same each week (just building up the distance) I think I'll do one of them as i have been but the other I'll force a slower rate. The 3rd session is an interval one so that will be a higher rate anyway.

G'day all. Lovely sunny day here, a bit warm (24 deg) in the lounge for erging but I manned up and did 2 x 20 minutes, at notional marathon and then notional 10k paces. A pleasingly sweaty session, in which the second leg felt harder than the hr indicated. Oh well. About 9,000 metres in all done.

Well done Muttley - not sure how I'd handle that sort of tempersture, thankfully it's lovely and cool where I erg

3x1000m for me today, aimed at same pace as the 6x500m I did a few weeks back and ended up a little faster. Happy with the time but I know my form got sloppy.

I did an early morning 10k at r18 and was proud of myself for not letting myself get carried away and kick it up for a finish. It was about 5.5c in the shed when I started and had gone up to 12c by the end. I still finished up with 2 fans going and my shirt off so well done Muttley on coping with that heat.
Also well done Rog T on that improvement. It's hard to hold good form but it comes with practice. It's tempting to chase the split though rather than think about how you're rowing. We all do it.

That's good progress, Rog T. As Nellers said, it's hard to hold form at the end of a session, but I think half the battle is knowing when you've got sloppy. Then at least you know what you need to work on next time.
That sounds like a tough session in that temperature, Muttley, but somehow you sound like you actually enjoyed wallowing in sweat! Not sure what temperature it was outside when I was rowing this morning but at least there was a bit of a breeze.
I did 8 x 2 mins @ 26s/m this morning with 30s recoveries, trying to break away from doing every session at 19s/m. It went quite well and I felt like I had a bit left in the tank at the end.

Thanks all. Another 2000m done today, another few seconds off 🙂. Going to try and get up to 5k over the next few weeks, will see. Will maybe incorporate some speed work after that. Good way to work up a sweat.
Nellers, he's 9 months old (should be 6) so usually have some time during his afternoon nap to do something.

Aye, holding form when fatigued is not always easy. I find that my spm drifts upward and a good way of keeping it in check is to say to myself "two, three" at the end of the drive before heading back down the rail. It just adds that extra second or so to pause and think about posture etc.

A couple of 20 min reps this morning, adding about 9,000 metres to the total and taking me and my beloved Model D past the 11 and a half million metre mark. Next up is 12 million!

That's a lot of metres! Great going.
I did my 2nd 6500m of the week yesterday and aimed to hold the stroke rate at 20. All the splits ended up at 21, my overall time was 4 seconds/500 slower with each split slower than the previous. Lower heart rate but felt a little uncomfortable - glutes and back a bit achey although I'm not sure if that was down to the run session of the previous day.
I'm going to persevere with 1 session each week at the lower stroke rate and keep it more evenly paced, based on that first one.
