I hear you, guys. I'm aware that this will be a long and slow recovery. Starting over, basically.

Not an inadvertant PB, 10km is down to 42:32 And it was a negative split, the second half faster than the first.

Well done Muttley, enjoy some very easy rows without any pressure, pace doesn't matter!
Good effort Nellers, I'm with you re the tights, woolly hat etc as all my weekday rowing is out on the patio at the mo because it's too hot indoors. I usually get overdressed though🤣
Fenners is on 🔥 well done!

Another PB, but pacing could be improved, 2km in 8:07. Went too hard for the initial 500 metres.

"Fly and die". It's always a danger with a 2k attempt. It's a really narrow band of effort that you can live with but that isn't too slow isn't it?

I’m still breaking down my rows to give my back a break but despite that the distances (and the fitness) are increasing. 5 x 13 minutes at r18 in the shed this morning, which gave me 15km including the rest distance.
It was -1 when I started and I was wrapped up a bit but by the time I finished the third piece it was 4.5c in there and I had to open the door (easier than stripping off layers in a 1 minute rest!).
Even with the door open it was 6c by the time I finished the session.

Another UT2 5000m this morning, which is all I'm willing to do at present. Improvement to pace is incremental, to put it politely. Breathing is heavier and hr higher than should be and there's still that annoying rattle in the throat. Similar story with some very easy run-walk plods.
But gently does it.

Anything this side of 25 mins for 5k is good

Good work, Muttley. Sounds like you're coming back reasonably well actually.

After 10 alternating days of very gently paddling on the erg and very slow jog-walk trots, I am getting ... absolutely nowhere. Hr drift and breathlessness kick in early at low levels of exertion.
I shall persevere for a while and see how things go.
