I'd been rowing pretty much every day through the lockdown but its pretty much all been aerobic steady state stuff. Just base building.
Tonight I did a tempo session: 5 x 2km/250m recovery. It was supposed to be 6 x 2km but I felt like I'd done enough after 5.
Really pleased with how the pace didn't feel too hard and I was able to keep my rate pretty low throughout. I guess that base stuff does some good.

Strong session, Nellers - great stuff!
I'm well impressed with how long you all seem to be able to spend on the rower. I think my longest time must now be just over 30 minutes (warm up, shake off then the session) and I'm usually pretty uncomfortable by then. I guess that is all part of the training too. I remember my first couple of plays and 10 minutes seemed forever 😃

Yep, you get used to it. By the end of all my Half Marathon rows I;ve felt pretty uncomfortable though.

Yeah, I can hack an hour max. With the occasional break is better. Rog, if the seat feels hard a folded over towel works wonders. Or bubblewrap.

And to be honest a session like that last night I got up off the seat after warm up, at least once in a break between reps, and again before the warm down. 14km total but it was broken up, and also there's a fair bit of wiggling and readjustment in the rest pieces.
I was very much done with that seat by the end of each Half Mara row though.
I've never really felt the need for a towel of padding or bubblewrap but I know plenty of people that do.
You can buy various seat pads (search on Amazon) that have different firmnesses (is that a word?) of foam or cut-out parts which might suit you (or might not).

A couple of 20-min reps this morning, 7 mins at 5k pace then 13 at marathon pace. Pacing and heart rates pretty much identical to a couple of days ago so I'll take that, thank you. Onwards and upwards ...

Incidentally, the soundtrack today was Crime of the Century, found at the back of the cd shelf during a tidyup. A reminder of what an excellent band Supertramp were.

Nice session Nellers, you've built a massive base and I reckon you're in great shape to tackle some middle-long distance TTs.
Well done Muttley! I love finding a long forgotten CD, they bring back great memories.
Rog, I use the C2 seat pad it's not very thick but I feel a little uncomfortable when I forget to use it.
I did the C2 Cross Team Challenge tonight.. 3 x 1721m/4r, managed 1:54.8 pace... a long way behind Sinj! Then did a cool down to finish the season on a nice round 2 million metres 👍

I'm looking forward to this month's C2CTC. 60 sec sprint, from a standing start.
Going for a 10k this evening. Hoping for a seasons best time.

Good luck, sinj!
Sounds like an interesting challenge, Craggy. Where do they get the unusual distances for the reps from?
Rog, I can also vouch for the C2 seat pad. It's made all the difference on longer sessions.
