Rog, itβs a version of training zones that British Rowing follow. rathburn.net That has a clear guide to what the zones are in section 3. In simple terms itβs easy pace, long duration aerobic base training. |

Good thing about that one min challenge Rog is that you can have numerous attempts throughout the month without it taking too much out of yourself. I'm sure a C2 minute is longer than 60 seconds though π 5 x 4k/2r @r25 today as half marathon prep, whilst watching Howard's Way (not the 1980's sailing drama) but a film about Howard Kendall's Everton π |

I was worried for you there for a minute Craggy. 3 x 6km with 1 minute rests, just to break up the 18km long row and get a drink. Next week has 21km (probably 21097m actually) on the plan and I'm thinking I'll do something similar to break it down and probably make it up to 22 or 24km. |

Nellers π Nice work mate, that was my thinking too it was nice to have a break for drinks and a chomp on a Penguin biscuit. Our club challenge for May is a HM and the Lightweight groups June challenge is HM so I'll be doing a couple. Are you back on the Asensei plan? |

No mate, not at all, although I did see that they've put about 40 of their shorter workouts up for free at present. I'm just doing modern jazz mate. Improvising around a wolverine melody. Mostly I'm doing a 10k most weekday mornings and I'm now trying to put in a L3/Tempo session somewhere each week, and rotating the long ones at weekends 15/18/21 and repeat for now. Also trying to get a turbotrainer session in, and some weights and circuits, and doing a 15 minute core routine 4 or 5 times during the week, mostly as a lunchtime thing. This lockdown has actually given me too much opportunity to overdo things. |

Rog, it's a heart rate band. Good chart and brief explanation here: freespiritsrowing.com Basically, in running parlance UT2 = slow aerobic plod, UT1 = more energetic but still aerobic, AT = threshold. TR and AN merge into one for me = eyeballs out. Sometimes it's expressed as times. UT2 = forever until boredom or muscle fatigue (usually back) sets in, UT1 = half mara race, AT = 10k race, and so on ... |

Thanks Muttley and Nellers π Craggy - agreed, C2 60 seconds lasts forever! I did the 1 min effort after my 7K today. Seemed to lose all control and it was well sloppy, 289m covered though so my bar is set, plenty time to improve. I held my lower stroke rate a lot better today - got the 21 i was aiming for. Changed the units to monitor power too which i'd not really considered much until now. |

Nice mix of rowing and cross training there Nellers, you seen to be coping with it well! I think we'll all come out of lockdown a little fitter (and a little fatter in my caseπ) Well done on the low rate Rog and good effort on the one minute, close to 300 so that's a good target for later in the month! Looks like we're in the same age/weight category, I was number one in the world for a few hours on 1st May... well I was the only one in the world but it was worth a screenshot π |
