That's a shame Nellers but understandable. Hopefully I'll be in shape to join you in October!

Good luck with the "Nellers Shed 2k Championships" in two weeks 😁

You're all invited.

Well, virtually invited anyway.

Also no rowing today as I had to take an afternoon off work at short notice to go and get my lad from Uni as all lectures are suspended and he couldn't get home with all his gear.

I'll join in the challenge if I can still get to the gym by then. Did a 'pedestrian' by all your standards 8:29 for 2k on Sunday - something to aim to beat anyway..

Oh no CW. How you feeling today? Hopefully it'll pass and your fitness level will help hold it at bay.

Congrats to Nellers, all that training is paying off. Dark Horse do a 6:59 2K row-along-with-me, if you can find it on YouTube - that's your next stop :-)

Just some more distance for me today, after a couple of days of CBA.

Another 10k tonight.
14/17 now and feel that I have broken the back of it now.

2nd fastest time as well, even though I haven’t been pushing for times.

Hoe everyone is keeping safe.

Midland in October sounds interesting. Keep us posted Nellers.

So last night I started my warmup ready to do 4 x 1km at race pace listening to the Oxygen Addict podcast. Rob was talking about how to stay healthy through the current situation and how important exercise is for mental health.

Then he got on to intensity and volume and talked about a 60/60/60 rule that has been applied to runners. No more than 60 minutes a day, no more than 60 miles a week (so for the level of athlete that's about 7-8 hours of training he reckons) and no more than 60% of your max intensity. The research he was quoting reckons that exercising up to that level supports your immune system but beyond it your immune system is degraded.

I didn't even finish my full warm up and did a 30 minute steady state instead.

I think my plan to stick with the high intensity stuff through to the cancelled race date then revise the plan has just been revised again. I think I'm going to be doing a lot of steady 10ks over the next few weeks and think about targeting anything performance wise when things have settled down a bit.

Thanks all! Slowly getting there. Whatever this is (not sure whether to hope it is or it isn’t the CV), it hasn’t been too horrendous (so far), just completely exhausting.

It’s good to keep up with everyone else’s training but I can’t imagine getting back on the erg for a while yet.

Sorry your race has been postponed, Nellers. That’s so frustrating after all the work you’ve put in but you must believe now that sub-7 is well within your grasp. If it does go ahead in October, I think I’ll aim to join you there.

And thanks for the link about training intensity. I’ll definitely be following that advice.

It’s day 2 in the Big Brother House and Nellers is hiding in the shed and rowing.

Again.

10k steady state this morning. Hope you’re continuing your recovery CW, and that everyone else is healthy and remains so.
