Hope you get the mildest version if you have got it CW. Sensible precautions and all that. Fingers crossed it's gone quickly for you and yours.

Thanks, Nellers. I’m feeling a bit “off-colour” today but otherwise not too bad. I had put most of the symptoms down to other things and would previously have kept going with symptoms like this. But I found out on Friday that I’d been in contact with a family with more convincing symptoms of CV and then went down with a tight chest and a bit of cough yesterday, so decided it’s not worth taking the risk with elderly and vulnerable family and friends.

Just mentioning this really because the official figures say we only have 4 confirmed cases of CV in Cambridgeshire, so I think we were still feeling a little distanced from it all until a couple of days ago, but I think the reality of how far it has spread may be very different from the official picture. So play safe everyone!

I think with the lack of testing (for good reasons) there's a big difference in the number of confirmed (ie tested and found to have it) cases and the number of people with symptoms that match the profile. I don't think the "official numbers" are the government trying to obscure the truth so much as they are the only definite numbers they can release and they're being poorly reported by a lot of the newsmedia. The actual number of cases is always going to be much higher than the number of positive tests.

Anyway, I'm sitting in the house in my kit stalling because when I go down to the shed I've got a warm up and 7 and a bit minutes of pain to do and I'm scared. :-0

Well I did it. 2 weeks of better recovery and speed work, a better race plan that I more or less stuck to, better eating and sleep than the last attempt.

Craggy, seems I was wrong about Pb form. 7:02.6!

Splits of 1:46.4, 1:46.1, 1:45.5 and 1:44.7.

I saw sub 1:40s for a lot of the last 150m on the wind up.

That’s really put me in a good mood now!

Re the testing levels and official numbers, I think you’re right, Nellers. I wasn’t really making a political point, more a comment on the fact that the statistics lagging behind the reality could make us play down the risks.

Re your PB, Nellers - wow! Looks like perfect progressive pacing with a very impressive final 500m. Really good to see all your hard work paying off and the different aspects of the training coming together so well. Looking really positive for two weeks’ time! 😀

If the race is still on CW, yes.

(Although if it isn't I'll do another 2km in the shed and try for sub 7)

I take your point on the stats, CW. I think the media are doing a poor job on Coronavirus. They're both panic-mongering and poorly reporting the stats to minimise things. The message isn't coherent or easily understandable without taking a bit of time to look into it beyond just the headlines.

Thank you CW, and I hope you feel better very soon!

Nellers well done that's a fantastic TT and very well executed! A well deserved PB and sub 7 looks a realistic target in two weeks 💪

Just had That Email. Midlands Indoors Champs is off. They’re trying to find a date in October to reschedule, so I’ll leave my entry in and hope that I can do the rescheduled date as part of a build to BRIC, assuming we’re back closer to normality by then.
