I'm seeing training suggestions on my watch when I tell it I'm about to run, SPR. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

I was referring to this Vrap but may have misread it?

Promoted from "strained" to "maintaining". Garmin Connect wants me to do anaerobic work. The watch is still stuck on 48 minutes at 10.20mm.

Racing for Wales on the 26th SPR which is scary in Feb at this weight having not really got back on the track.

Ah ok, so starting with indoors? Nice. Enjoy.

Velociraptor if you're referring to the anaerobic shortage thing then I misunderstood. Thought you were seeing an anaerobic session suggestion so wondered where you were seeing it.

Thank you, that's really useful. I think I'll use the adaptation to marathon running for the next tempo run. The P&D wants me to run a 12 miler with 7 at 15k-HM pace which is quite a heavy load. Yesterday's session was a mile shorter, 11 with 6 at that pace. I made it doable by splitting up the 15k-HM section into 5 parts, following what Garmin had suggested but with faster recovery. So it didn't feel too hard, I could have done another 2000m no problem and I'm not sore today. That session is probably more HM specific though.

For the marathon, it's a better idea to tailor the session to the needs of that race and the suggested alternations give me just that. If I'm exceeding marathon pace by 15-20 seconds for 400 and then drop back just below MP for 1200 to clear the lactate, that's more useful. I'll try that next time instead and see how it goes.

Yes, SPR, I was referring to the anaerobic shortage and the advice under Training Status on the app to include some anaerobic training. Apologies if it wasn't clear.

V'rap, mine does that sometimes, too. The app complains about the lack of anaerobic work but the suggestions are still base, saying that is going to keep my training load balanced. And that's with the majority of the load in the low aerobic. I have over 2800 there compared to 1400 for high aerobic and a measly 185 anaerobic. So I don't get it why it keeps suggesting base.

I wonder if Gobi is the only one without anaerobic shortage here because of the 800 work, lol.

I look forward to clear mine at some point during track season.

"anaerobic shortage ... a few more very intense, anaerobic activities are just what your training needs"

Todays suggestion - BASE 39-70 mins

About This Thread

Maintained by EvilPixie
According to my Garmin this morning my body battery was at just 41 and I was "strained"
I have been strained for most days in the last 2 weeks
My body battery has also been low

So today it suggested a threshold run of up to an hour!

What's your Garmin say?
