I agree with that, Bowman. My predictions are currently:

5k: 20:08 (fastest known 5k this year 22:03, first half of a 10k; nearly 2 min off)
10k: 42:26 (PB 44:37 this year; Garmin also about 2 min off)
half: 1:35:10 (PB 1:37:42 this year, about 2:30 min off the prediction)
marathon: 3:30:36 (PB this year: 3:29:36, I'm a minute faster than predicted)

So Garmin doesn't get me, except if it's for marathons. The predictions were pretty similar all the time, since the estimated VO2 max was mostly around 52, a bit lower in summer due to the heat. When Garmin was hovering around the 3:30 mark for the marathon, I felt confident that I could actually pull that one off but I usually just laugh at the other predictions.

Goals for 2024: break 21 minutes in the 5k, 44 in the 10k, 1:35 in the half and 3:25 in the marathon.

I've done a few indoor bike sessions this week, and tonight I got my first training suggestion. It was "REST. You've had plenty of activity. You may want to take it easy for the rest of the day."

I'm not sure whether it was recognising the 4.8 miles of walking I'd done earlier in the day or the three hours I'd done on the turbo trainer over the previous week.

Probably the turbo
Donโ€™t think Garmin thinks much of walking

Riding on the turbo trainer is a brilliant way to game the training load without getting sore legs.

HRV has jumped up from being in the 40s and low 50s every night for over a month to 70 last night and my training status has flipped from Strained to Productive.

Interesting! Might have to try and find my turbo trainer mojo. Maybe it's just lurking in the garage! ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜‚

About This Thread

Maintained by EvilPixie
According to my Garmin this morning my body battery was at just 41 and I was "strained"
I have been strained for most days in the last 2 weeks
My body battery has also been low

So today it suggested a threshold run of up to an hour!

What's your Garmin say?
