Larkim, it's nothing too extravagant, just a Nespresso. Our ageing Senseo finally gave up the will to live a few weeks ago, so it's been on the list to purchase one since then.

I do really like my new device - the maps are great, and Garmin Pay was easy to set up, and some of the other features look interesting. According to eBay I should get about £100 back for my 735XT, but I have to say the HRM is still rubbish on the Fenix 6....regularly 10-15bpm out, and sometimes 20+ making it useless for HR training. I had a very slight hope of being able to ditch the chest strap but knew deep down it would be very unlikely, so it'll be back to the strap from tomorrow. I do really like the device though and as I say, I was expecting to have to continue to wear the strap anyway.

I ran down to sea level today so took the opportunity to calibrate the altimeter down there, so I will be interested to see if the elevation stats change (or not) compared to what I used to get.

I'm onto the second of 4 tempered glass protectors on my Garmin 45! Mainly because I'm inept at putting them on perfectly true, so there was a slight lip on one side. This one has a slight issue at the bottom instead.... :-(

But my old 405 had a belter of a gouge in it from an attack by a wall and a pavement. (My elbow has a similar scar.....)

Thanks Linds! My watch seemed dramatically off from the rest of the group I was was swimming with. New watch, so this was my first OWS in it - I don't know if that makes a difference? Here's the blog post fetcheveryone.com/blog/105476/2021/6#blog428481

Hobie, I've just commented on your blog before following Linds link to here.

"Actually, your GPS trace looks smoother than Jo's. Hers has some kinks shortly after leaving Cobo Coast Road, and just before the end her track doubles back. I'm not familiar with the Garmin Swim 2 - does it offer different GPS options, e.g. GPS only, GPS+GLONASS, GPS+Galileo? If it does, and you and Jo use different options, that could be the answer.

I have no idea if an individual's swimming action makes a difference."

My Garmin 245 completely froze up on 10KM into a 20 - 21KM race yesterday.

The only thing not routine I was doing was having loaded a course of the race route. It was a well marked trail race and I wanted this just to know how much further to go, rather than navigation.

Anyway, maybe useful info for some:

I thought despite the screen being frozen on heart rate, it might be recording data anyway so I didn't want to mess with the watch during the race.

When finishing the race a hard reset was required (hold the light button for 15 seconds).

The bad news is the activity stopped recording when the watch froze.

The good news is that when I powered the watch back on, it had the option to resume the activity. So this would have been good on the course. As I'd finished, I just saved it and that part of the data was OK.

Ouch. What sort of size was the route file? Files made in route planners are fairly small compared with files that are a record of someone actually running the route, and sometimes the large files can overwhelm the watch’s memory. Happens sometimes with the watches that can follow a previous activity as a course.
